Your computer warns about the installer?

The Zillville launcher isn't code-signed yet, so your computer asks once before the first start:

Windows: on “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.

Mac: open the .dmg and drag the launcher into Applications. If macOS says it can't be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Linux: make the AppImage executable (right-click → Properties → “Allow executing”, or chmod +x), or install the .deb.

After that, the launcher installs the game, keeps it up to date and starts it.

Why play

A whole city, and everyone's in it

Recorded in the game
A firefight inside a crew compound

Take on the crews

Crews hold fenced compounds across the neighbourhoods. Their gunners flank, sprint and push. Go in with a party, clear the yard and take on the elite lieutenants.

The player aiming a rifle at a crossing

Guns that level up

Every gun is your own and gains levels from the hits you land. Pistols, SMGs, rifles, plus a bat, a karambit and a katana for close work. Attachments change how a gun handles, never how hard it hits.

A car drifting through a junction

Drive anything

Jump into any car parked on the street. Real weight, real drifts, engines recorded from real simulations. Getting across the city has never felt this good.

A row of shops: nails, phone repair, pizza

Work, shop, trade

Cook in the diner, sit down at the Trade House and swap gear face to face, and spend your Zills in the delis, the gun store, the pawn shop and the clothing stores.

Loot and Zills dropping after a fight

Every kill pays

Zills and ammo drop on the street. A quest chain takes you from your first fight to level 10 with no grinding gaps. Each job turns in where the next one starts.

A street with brick buildings and a car

Look the part

Four clothing shops and a barbershop sell every look in the game, and the custom editor lets you draw your own outfit and head.

The world

Downtown, and everything round it

You start in the safe streets of Downtown. The further out you go, the tougher the crews get. Each part of the city covers a band of levels, and enemy name tags show how dangerous they are.

Safe

Downtown

Where you start. Shops, the Trade House, the diner and your first contacts. No crews.

Lv 1–5

The neighbourhoods

Tenement blocks and corner shops, with crews roaming the streets and holding their first yards.

Lv 5–8

The industrial compounds

Fenced factory yards with containers, forklifts and gunners on patrol.

Lv 8–10

The stronghold

The crews' headquarters in the north. Bring a party.

Lv 10–20

The Docks

Across the bridge. Coming in a later update.

Fair play

No pay-to-win. Ever.

  • Power is earned in the game. Gun levels come from your own hits. Zills come from fights, quests and jobs.
  • No paid loot boxes.
  • Attachments are utility. Magazines, sights and suppressors change handling and stealth, never damage.

FAQ

Is Zillville free?

Yes, the download is free while the game is in early access.

Which devices can I play on?

Windows, Mac and Linux, through the Zillville launcher. iPhone, iPad and Android builds are being worked on. One account and one shared city for all of them.

How do updates work?

You install the Zillville launcher once. It checks for updates whenever you open it, downloads only the files that changed, and has a Play button. It updates itself too.

My computer won't let me open it.

On Windows, click More info → Run anyway on the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. On a Mac, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. It happens once, because the launcher isn't code-signed yet.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Everyone plays in the same city. Make a party to share quest kills and XP, and meet at the Trade House to swap gear.

Is there PvP?

Yes. Most of the city is open PvP. The spawn plaza, the delis and the clinics are safe zones, and a notice tells you when you cross into or out of one. A downed player crawls instead of dying on the spot and has to be finished off, so your friends can still save you.

Will it come to Steam?

That's the plan. Your account carries over. Follow the Discord for the date.
